In the case of thecrescentic or annular amygdaloids I conclude that at these spotsthe magma was in an extremel) hydrous state, and that the areanoAv enclosed by the periphery of the nodnle was practically composedof two parts, that is, magma and water. Hence the excess of eitherwould crystallize out or separate out, as the case may be. As in theYellowstone, the water charged with sundry substances in solutionprobably played some part in depositing encrusting minerals on thesurfaces of the cavities.
