Mrs. Thomas Kingsbury, Mrs. William Merrill, Mrs. Thomas Rich, Mrs. E. W. Parker, Mrs. William Butler, Mrs. Lewis Flanders. Bible woman in Moradabad, India. In 1869 Miss IsabellaThoburn and Miss Clara Swain—the latter a medical mis-sionary—were sent to India. They were the pioneer mis-sionaries of the Society By a system of Bible readers, schools, orphanages, medicalmissionaries and visitation of the homes, with physical and Foreign Work 1167 spiritual aid and comfort, the messengers of the cross sentout by the Womans Foreign Missionary Society have ren-dered infinite help in building up the kingdom of Christ.By rescuing children, especially girls, of heathen familiesthey have been enabled to at once save many from degrada-tion, if not death, and raise up Christian native women tolabor in the future for their sisters in darkness.

Thereare 5,410 auxiliary societies and 139,404 members in theseveral Conferences. The young womans societies number597, with a membership of 15,090, and 641 mission bandsamong children with 17,271 members. During the yearending October 1, 1901, $426,795.28 was collected.
