In other cases a man of greatability will inspire admiration, without love, because,notwithstanding his great attainments, the absenceof that tender sympathy which knits mankind to-gether prevents the unity of the pastor with hispeople. How great, then, must be the attachmentbetween them when the former is possessed not onlyof great attractive powers as a preacher, but also ofa heart tender and open as that of a child.
