RATHLAHINE CASTLE, 1680. I observed at Ralahine, a very ill scent to attend a greatrain, and the West of Ireland generally is very subject to it. The men of Thomond are, for the most part, of largeproportion of body and clear complexion. The women arenot ill favoured, and as fair—fairer—fair handed, big, large,well bottomed, not laced, but suffered to grow at will,nothing sett or curious of their feature and proportion ofbody, and with the largest legs, vulgarly, of any. One Teige Cusack, tenant to a Dutch gentleman, GilesVanderlure, Esq., one of his Majestys Receivers of hisRevenue, putting straw upon the funnel of his chimney, setfire to his cabin, the 2nd of February, 16S0-81.
