The surrounding geological formations indicate that the springshave been flowing for many centuries. A chemical analysis shows sulphurto be the predominating constituent, but the water also contains magnesia,arsenic, iodine and lime. The soil near Hunters Springs is highly productive, being enrichedwith gypsum and other strong mineral fertilizers. Everything is producedin the gardens of this section that is cultivated in the States of Ohio, In-diana and Illinois. It is one of the best grazing localities in the Yellow-stone Valley, the whole face of the country being heavily grassed. Back in the bluffs, within easy walking distance of Hunters Springs,there are still many antelope, while hares, ducks, geese and other smallgame abound in the vicinity. Deer are occasionally jumped up in thegroves in the Yellowstone, near the Springs; and it is seldom that the

Elk are numerous in the mountains a few miles out.Few rivers are more thronged with trout than the Yellowstone. Theangler must be unskillful indeed, who fails to capture a handsome stringin a couple of hours fishing. The largest trout will weigh fully threepounds. Good coal has been found within two miles of Hunters Springs;but the adjacent country has been only superficially prospected for minerals.Springdale Station is about three miles from this place, and there is tele-phonic communication between the two points. Mails arrive and departdaily. Hacks are at the station on the arrival of every train to take tour-ists and invalids to the springs. There are distinct bath-houses for the welland the sick, for male and female, and some of the tubs or tanks arelarge and deep enough for plunging and swimming.
