Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The graveyard wall, Old St Fergus Kirk The solid wall around the old graveyard of St Fergus was built to keep out the Resurrection Men who stole bodies for sale to the anatomists in nearby Aberdeen.

The iron rings set into the wall date to the days when visitors to the graveyard arrived on horseback and were used to tether the horses.

The rings are set at different heights so as to accommodate any size of pony or horse.
