Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe grave of the Rev. Stephen Roose Hughes - geograph.org.uk - 1191586.jpg |
English: The grave of the Rev. Stephen Roose Hughes. Mr Hughes was the vicar of Llanallgo at the time of the Royal Charter disaster. He and his wife arranged the identification and burial of the 140 bodies retrieved from the wreck and the contacting of their next of kin. The events took a heavy toll on Stephen Hughes and he died, still a young man, in 1862. He is immortalised in Dickens's book "The Uncommercial Traveller". |
