This should be excavated to the depth of 3 feet 3inches and the bottom of the excavation made perfectly level.Broken stone should then be placed on the top of that and rolleddown and leveled off to a depth of one foot, then engine asheswell watered and rolled on top of the broken stone for a depthof 9 inches. The very best selected garden soil should then besecured, thoroughly watered and placed on the top of the engineashes and rolled until a perfectly level surface is obtained. Thenthe finest lawn grass seed should be procured and the soil sownwith it and again rolled until the perfectly level surface has beenobtained again.
