Pe.vitent. Last season, 1897, saw two additions to the52 foot class, both built at Fairlie from Mr.Fifes design, namely, Morning Star for Mr.Andrew Coates and Senga for Mr. F. ADubs. They were about a foot longer on the L.^V,L.than the same designers creation of the previousseason, being 47 feet 6 inches against TheSaints 46 feet 6 inches; their beam wasidentical with that of the latter vessel, and theirsail area slightlv larger. Mr. C. D. Rose, to Mr. \\. P. Burton, but shewas not brought out until the Solent racingbegan in August. Audrey, Lord Dunravenscutter, now in her fourth season, or third sinceshe was rebuilt, was tuned up in a wonderfulfashion. Her owner had the angle of her plateand bilge padded to reduce her girth, which,under the present rule, allowed her nearly100 feet additional sail area, though even then,with 2,780 square feet she had nearly 300 feetless sail area than Penitent.
