A table with the picture of St. George, his spear beingbroken and his sword in his hand. l The words exactly describe the first St. George, painted, it is sup-posed, about 1504, for the Duke of Urbino, and now in the Louvre. In that picture the Saint is armed with a sword, and the fragments of hisshattered spear lie on the ground at his horses feet, while in Raphaelssecond version of the subject, St. Georges sword is in his sheath and heslays the dragon with his spear. This may have been the St.George by Raphael which Lomazzo saw in 1548 in Milan, and which is1 Harleian MS. 1419, in the British Museum.
