The meal given to the officers of the 66th provedan excellent one. Henry admired the arrangements ;he praises the dishes and extols the generous wines.But he noticed that his host, continually preoccupiedby Longwood and the responsibilities of his office,spoke little, and sometimes showed signs of absent-mindedness. Happily, says he, Lady Lowekept the conversation from flagging, and we wereall delighted with her.
