Hartshorn, * I believe some of thecrack Sealyhams and wire-haired fox terriers are en-tered, and theres sure to be a good showing of Bostonterriers. Alert will be in fast company. The wires are always worth seeing, said he, aftera pause. It was a white bull terrier that won bestof all breeds in New York last winter, but duringthe last half-dozen years wire-haired fox terriers havewon two-thirds of the first honors. The breedersseem to have nearly achieved perfection with thisvariety. Matford Vic, Wireboy of Paignton, Wy-collar Boy, and several others have been almost per-fect specimens. But you never can tell. Their daymay be passing, and for the next few years it may 250 THE DOGS OF BOYTOWN be Airedales or bulldogs, or almost any other breedthat will force its way to the top. Thats one of theinteresting features of the dog-show game. Thensometimes you find all predictions upset, and all thebig dogs beaten by a greyhound or an Old Englishsheepdog. Theres always a chance for everybody.

You look as though you might bebound for that place yourselves, and if you couldkeep an eye on these dogs it would be a great favor. Well do so with pleasure, said Mr. Hartshorn. What are their names ? asked Ernest. Tippecanoe and Tyler Too, he answered. Imentering them as singles and as a brace, and I thinkI stand a pretty good show. The baggage man came along, and by the time theowner of the beagles had arranged for their shipmentthe train was ready to start again.
