Text Appearing Before Image:
f Mike once got a grip on Mr. OBriensthroat, it would be good-by, Mr. OBrien. It is only fair to the boys to state that it was theIrish terrier that started the fracas on his own initia-tive. He was a scrappy terrier, always ready to startsomething, and it usually required considerable vigi-lance to keep him out of trouble. He merely turned about and pre-sented a terrifying front to his more active antagonist.Again Mr. OBrien rushed, seeking a hold on Mikesbig, muscular neck. For a time Mr. OBrien seemed to be having thebest of it. He took the offensive and seemed to beon all sides of Mike at once. The bulldogs ear wasbleeding and Harry urged him to retaliate. Suddenly Mike raised his huge bulk and bore downthe lighter dog beneath his weight. Then he beganmethodically seeking the vice-like hold that wouldhave meant
