Beingadults, they would feel some of the best years of theirlife were slipping away from them and that the trainingwas not worth the cost. At many schools in Franceinstruction in tailoring had to be given up because itrequired eighteen months to bring a man to the point ofproficiency, and the soldiers would not wait that long. 6. The occupations for which training is given mustnot be those in which there must be expected labor dis-turbance or over-supply at the termination of the war.It would be hard, for example, to find an employmentbetter suited to a one-legged man than automobiledriving. Yet the British Pensions Ministry has sent outinstructions that no disabled men are to be trained forthis work. The explanation is that motor transport has,in the present war, displaced the army mule, and thattens of thousands of enlisted men have been trained to
