The menses mayflow simuhaneously from the two horns or alternately at intervalsof from two to four weeks. When one horn or one-half of a septateuterus is pregnant the opposite side may continue to menstruateor may become pregnant at any time during the period of gesta-tion in the other side. A decidua may form in the non-gravid sideand be discharged at labor. Pregnancy and labor may progressnormally, and uterine contractions occur in both horns. This,however, is not the rule. The uterine contractions are seldomregular and strong; malpositions and malpresentations of the childare common; placenta prsevia and premature detachment of theplacenta may occur at any time, and rupture of the uterus duringlabor is always to be feared.
