Less frequently, tendernessin the region is due to disease of the pancreas or to some affection of the peri-toneum. Tenderness in Umbilical Region (Fig. 177). The usual causes of this are general peritonitis, tubercular peritonitis, gastro-enteritis, neurasthenia and hysteria.
