This pessary has proven exceedingly useful in severe cases, where operationwas inadvisable or was refused or where temporary relief was required while thepatient was waiting for operation. 7. Cup and Belt Pessary (Fig. 462). This is another form of pessary that hasgiven much relief in the three classes of cases just mentioned. It does not dependat all for support on the tissues of the pelvic floor or vaginal outlet, and hence issuitable in cases where even the Menge pessary is expelled or is unsatisfactory onaccount of painful pressure. It obtains its support from a belt about the abdo-men. There are various forms, one of which may be preferred by one patient andanother by another.
