But the patient should return in three orfour days, even though she has no particular disturbance, for the uterus may havesettled back into its old malposition. DIRECTIONS TO PATIENT WITH PESSARY 337 At this second visit, inquire if the patient has noticed any protrusion or sHppingof the pessary or has had any pain or discomfort from the pessar3^ A pessarywhich is entirely satisfactory should give little or no sensation of its presence, infact, in most cases the patient would not know the pessary was there if she werenot told. Inquire also how much she has been relieved from the previous dis-comfort, for which the pessary was introduced.
