Then, whenwe speak of tenderness in theappendiceal region, there is noquestion as to the exact loca-tion of the tenderness. The principal areas of signi=ficant point=tenderness areshown in Fig. 31. There are,of course, also many areas ofsecondary importance—of secondary importance because tenderness or a mass therein is not of such definitesignificance. After locating accurately the point of greatest tenderness, try to trace the tender=ness in various directions. This is especially useful in cases which are doubtful be-cause the tenderness is not typically situated or is not well limited.
