[edit]DescriptionThe church of All Saints - rood screen detail - geograph.org.uk - 915250.jpg |
English: The church of All Saints - rood screen detail This panel depicts st Peter with his keys.
All Saints church > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915237 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915239 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915258 is a large building dating mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries, with extensive restoration work carried out in the 19th century. The pulpit, however, is early C16 and the 15th century rood screen dado > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915242 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915248 is original and one of the best in the area; its eight panels depict saints. The font bowl > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915260 is Purbeck marble and dates from the 13th century; it was recut, and reset onto a 19th century base. All stained glass dates from the 19th century also, with a number of panels in the north aisle windows > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/915256 being of particular interest in that they are believed to have been made in Paris, around 1850. Some of the benches have carved poppyheads. The church is kept locked. See also: http://www.norfolkchurches.co.uk/filby/filby.htm |
