Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe church of All Saints - geograph.org.uk - 845684.jpg |
English: The church of All Saints Hemmed in by trees on all sides and with the churchyard being overgrown by high grass and nettles, it is very difficult to get the whole building into one picture.
The remote village of Brandon Parva consists of only about 20 houses and All Saints church > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/845714 is located beside a farm track > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/845670 by Church Plantation, on its own. Much restored and repaired during the 19th century, a few original corbels have survived, as has the original C14 font > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/807713. In the southeast corner of the nave there is an elaborate memorial to John Warner (d. 1702) at the age of 21 > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/807719. The roof was rebuilt in 1860 and the stained glass in the windows is early 20th century; the tower arch is decorated by a hood mould carved with trailing vines, presently supported with props as the keystone of the arch has slipped and there is a danger for the whole structure to collapse > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/845728 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/807716. In march 2008, English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund have granted £178,000 towards the funding of urgently required repair work. The church is kept locked, a key is readily availabe.
