Text Appearing After Image:
THE ANSWER /^ANE day Louis XIV of France made a false^^-^ move on the chess board. Greatly to hischagrin he lost the game. It was because yourMajesty made that false move, said his opponent,De Guise, wishing to appease the king. I nevermake false moves. Monsieur, said the king haugh-tily. He looked around at the courtiers, whowere silent, as if they agreed with him. As he wasspeaking the Duke of Bourbon came into the room. The king appealed to him. Your Majesty mustbe wrong, said Bourbon calmly. Why, Mon-sieur ? asked the astonished king. Because, replied Bourbon, I heard you appeal to thesegentlemen, and they only answered by silence. Ifyou had been right they would loudly have takenyour part. And the king majestically admittedthat for once he had made a mistake.
