English: The canal tunnel and Christ Church, Sowerby Bridge. This was taken ten years after the other similar photo. The main difference is that the church tower is no longer crowned by scaffolding! The church was built in 1819 to serve the rapidly growing population of the area (not yet a town at that date). |
