Summary

[edit]
Description

Business end of CN GMD F7 diesel-electric locomotive # 9159, on display outside the roundhouse. The cab is in the restoration process of being turned into a fully-integrated railroad simulator platform. 9159 began life in June 1951. Built by General Motors Diesel, it sported the green and gold livery in use by CN at the time and was numbered 6038.It was rebuilt in the 1970's and painted in CNs famous zebra stripe motif, and renumbered 9159. The unit was scrapped in 1991. After being bought by a private party in 1991 the cab sat for several years at several places in several states of disrepair and restoration before it was finally moved to the museum for use as a simulator.

After repainting the cab was installed on a front truck and placed outside the roundhouse door, giving the illusion of a full unit just emerging from the shed. (Toronto, Canada, Nov.2015)
