THE KASTERN ROBINS MOVE SLOWEV, THEPACIFIC MUCH EASTER Most of the robins from Missouri tliatpass throujjh western Minnesota elect toturn to the northwest, and now theymust not only keep pace with the rapidlyadvancing season, but must do so whiletraveling on a long-drawn-out diagonal.Their daily average rises to 50 miles—four times that in southern Iowa—andlater, when for the birds bound for west-ern Alaska the course becomes nearlydue west, the rate increases to 70 milesa day—more than six times the speedwith which the journey began.
