sh, accordingto Dr. Glinther, is Lates calcarifer. From itslist of habitats it appears to be strictly inter-tropical, and he mentions specimens of itfrom India, Java and other places, its northernboundaries being Calcutta and China, limitsof latitude which correspond pretty well withBundaberg on the Queensland coast. The mystery was explained, the marauderhad certainly taken our palmer, and mostlikely the small dog as well, as we rememberedthat the little animal was very fond of thewater. We went home, and at night deviseda plan of revenge which I carried out to myentire satisfaction the next day, and therebyinaugurated a new form of sport in connectionwith one of the most hateful forms of fishlife. My friend had to take his departure,so I went alone, p
