Thegeneral colour of the plumage above is light yellowish-olive, the crown *>fthe head deep grey, bordered on each side by a line of blackish, below whichis a line of yellowish-white passing from the nostril over the eye, the loralspace dusky. Quills brown, yellowish-olive on the outer margin, whitishon the inner. Tail wood-brown, margined with paler. The lower parts arewhite, the breast tinged with pale yellow, the throat and sides with grey. Length to end of tail 4^ inches; extent of wings 7f; bill along the ridgeT62, along the edge of lower mandible f;; wing from flexure 2^; tail 2yJ;tarsus T82; hind toe T32-, its claw f;; middle toe -f;, its claw ff. This species is almost exactly similar to Vireo olivaceas in colour, but isconsiderably smaller, and differs in having the wings shorter, with the firstquill considerably shorter than the fifth, whereas in that species it is alwaysmuch longer, generally exceeding even the fourth. ?s°±9.
