This species, which grows in the woods, from Canada to Virginia, ischaracterized by its large, suborbicular, subcordate, unequally serrate, acuteleaves, its dense cymes, and ovate berries, which are at first red, but ulti-mately black. SMALL GREEN CRESTED FLYCATCHER. * Muscicapa acadica, Gmel. PLATE LXIL—Male and Female. The Small Green Crested Flycatcher is not abundant, even in South Caro-lina, in the maritime parts of which it occasionally breeds. It merely passesthrough Louisiana, in early spring and in autumn; but it is found distributedfrom Maryland to the eastern extremities of Nova Scotia, proceeding per-haps still farther north, although neither I nor any of my party observed
