The #IFArafoCandelaria is the most serious fire in Spain this year and the worst in the last 40 years in the Canary Islands.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The #IFArafoCandelaria is the most serious fire in Spain this year and the worst in the last 40 years in the Canary Islands. Ten days after it started, the evolution of the fire is starting to be favourable and less than 300 people remain under evacuation orders. The fire has affected the Corona Forestal Natural Park and the Teide National Park, two protected natural areas of high ecological value with unique mountain pine forests and endemic species. The Cabildo of Tenerife has begun the process of declaring the area a disaster area. The Rapid Mapping module of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) has been activated (EMSR685) to provide fire extent and damage assessment emergency mapping. This image shows the extent of the fire through the data provided by CEMS and identifies the multi-temporal evolution of the monitoring carried out so far. According to the latest AoI monitoring data, the affected area is 10,957 hectares.
