Summary

[edit]
Description
English: I don't think I've across a more handsome and workmanlike design that the Standard-design West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive Daimler/Leyland Fleetline of 1971-79. 995* were built commencing from fleet number 4036 (XON 36J) to 7000 (WDA 700T) - although it was actually 6690 that was the last to enter service.

There were a few subtle changes to the interior/exterior along the way - the bodywork orders being split between Park Royal and Metro-Cammell Weymann, but they were all essentially similar looking from start to finish. 6600 is a Park Royal bodied example from 1977, which did differ slightly from the MCW version - but only to the trained eye. For starters, the thin piece of guttering above the offside emergency door; on the MCW version it was 'n' shaped - but on the PRV version it was a 'squiggly line' shape [seen here].

  • No's 4036-4135 (x100), 4136-4235 (100), 4243-4342 (100), 4530-4629 (100), 6301-6720/6761-6800 (460), 6866-7000 (135) excluding the East Lancs bodied 6721-60 batch.
