Description
English:

A dark colored basalt rock outcropping on a hillside.

The basalt arch known as Ant and Yellowjacket is a story about sharing. Ant and Yellowjacket argued over which rock they could use to eat their dried Salmon they found along the Clearwater River. They came to blows over who had the right to eat the fish on their favorite rock. Fighting fiercely, they failed to notice Coyote, the all-powerful animal spirit. Even when he ordered them to stop, they kept on struggling. For not heeding his warning, Coyote turned them to stone as their backs were arched and their jaws locked together in combat, creating the arch seen today.
