i, either single or in pairs; sometimes in chains, the doubleform being not nearly so regular as in the case of the Diplobacilli. Thecapsules are also much more apparent, and in places—as, for instance, in 1V.6,where the preparation is overstained—they stain light red, and are surroundedby a clear space.
