The back of an astrolabe (a medieval instrument, now replaced by the sextant, that was once used to determine the altitude of the sun or other celestial bodies), showing the universal projection described by Juan de Rojas Sarmiento in 15550 (usually known as athe Rojas astrolabe); the cursor for the scale is missing.
