There were many floraltributes laid around the coffin, andthe rotunda had been tastefullydraped in mourning. The feeling of sorrow was exhib-ited in thousands of ways throughoutthe city. Throngs of visitors visitedthe capitol, where the body lay instate until the morning of the 21stof April, when it was removed to therailroad station, the members of thecabinet, the Illinois delegation and thepallbearers, with senators and offi-cers of the army, accompanying thehearse. The remains of little Willie ILincoln, who died in 1862 and was Iburied in Oak Hill cemetery, were re-moved to the depot and placed in thesame car with the remains of hisfather.
