The Gothic style of architecture being the most cal-culated for additions or repairs to an old house, I mighthere venture to recommend it on the score of mereutility ; but when we take into the account that pictur-esque effect which is always produced by the mixtureof Gothic buildings with round-headed trees, I confessmyself to be rather sanguine in my hopes of produc-ing such beauty at Wembly as will render that house,which has hitherto been a reproach to the place, theleading feature of the scenery.
