d. Inour report on Pratapapur we have already statedthat in that village Maharaja Prataparudra Devahad an image of Cri Chaitanya made of nimwood. This example set by the king was soonfollowed by the people, and now there is scarcelyany important village in Orissa that has not itsimage of Chaitanya for worship. Of all theimages of Cri Chaitanya found in Orissa, theone discovered at Pratapapur is the oldest, having been made during the life-time of theMaster. It is however lying in a neglectedcondition, though its great historical importanceought to have attracted the attention and homageof the people. (Fig. 54). After Cri Chaitanya had passed away, the taskof propagating his religion in Utkala devolvedupon two great VaisnaVa apostles, Cyamanandaand Rasikananda. Accounts of these Vaisnava wor-thies are to be found in almost all the importantVaisnava works, but chiefl.v in Bliaktiratnakara,Cyamaiumda-PrakaQa and in Rasika-Maijgala byGopijana-vallabha.
