Mr. Flower has some remarkably beautiful specimens,in form much like Fig. 472, from Milford Hill. One of these is rather morethan 0 inches long and 4£ inches broad. Some of the flattened ovalimplements, such as are common at Icklingham, occur also at Gravel Hill.I have one approaching the circular form, the length being 3^ inchesand the breadth 8/, inches. Those which I have selected for engravingare for the most part in my own collection. Fig. 439 shows an unusuallythick pointed specimen of dark flint, stained ochreous in places. Thisimplement has been dexterously made from a nodule of flint, the original GRAVEL HILL, BRANDON. 509 outer skin of which is visible along the greater part of the ridge of one

I am not quite sure from which of the localitiesalong the course of the Little Ouse the implementshown in Fig. 440 was obtained by Mr. Flower,to whom it belongs, but it probably came fromGravel Hill. It presents the peculiarity of beingalmost as much pointed at one end as at the other.The depression in the centre is the result of alarge flake having been removed, and is probablyaccidental. Though pointed at both ends, itseems probable that only one was intended foruse, as a small flat surface has been left at theother end, which unfits it for cutting or piercing.
