The serous coat is partial, andderived from the peritoneum, which invests the posterior surface andsides of the bladder, from about opposite the point of termination ofthe two ureters to its summit, whence it is guided to the anterior URINARY BLADDER. 605 wall of the abdomen by the hypogastric cords and oiachus. Themuscular coat consists of two layers, an external layer composed oflongitudinal fibres, the detrusor urinse; and an internal layer ofoblique and transverse fibres irregularly distributed.
