The planning of the work is leftlargely with the director. Outlines of investigations are submitted forthe approval of the board from time to time, especially in the case ofproposed new experiments involving a considerable outlay of money.Members of the staff are allowed considerable latitude in selecting linesof work. The expenditure of all sums exceeding §5 in a single requisi-tion must be authorized by the board of trustees or have the approvalof the chairman of the executive committee. The State examiner isauthorized to inspect station accounts from time to time. The staff consists of the president of the college, director (who is alsoagriculturist), expert in dairy husbandry, chemist, horticulturist andbotanist, irrigation engineer, meteorologist, poultry manager
