Description
Leather hardcover book. Published by orders of General Assembly Williamsburg: W. Rind, A. Purdie and J. Dixon, 1769. The final compilation of Virginia laws published before the Revolution. Laws passed by the General Assembly details the legal code of the colony beginning in 1661 and spanning over a century. The Acts of Assembly cover many issues pertinent to Virginians in this era, most notably laws regarding slavery and tobacco farming. Inside front cover: "Burr Harrison-Book given by him to his son Cuthbert Harrison, Jr." The book was sent to Benjamin Harrison by C. N. Gallup July 5, 1890.
