Onthe opposite side appeared the trans-continental train of the New YorkCentral, intending to show us how easily it would throw dust in our eyes.But our engine was quite equal to its task, and its engineer had no wish fora second place ; so after running five miles in 4 min. 50 sec, we left theBlue Train to its own devices.
