I welcome vou to the fulfilment of her prophetic vision. H. N. Higinbotham, President of the Worlds ColumbianExposition, was next introduced and spoke as follows: ADDRESS OF PRESIDENT H. N. HIGINBOTHAM, OF THE WORLDS COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION. It affords me infinite pleasure to welcome the distinguished gentlemenwho compose this august body. It is a matter of satisfaction and pride,Mr. Chairman and gentlemen, that the relations existing between the peo-ples and the nations of the earth are of such a friendly nature as to makethis gathering possible. It is a source of satisfaction that to tlie residents of a newcity in a far country should be accorded this great privilege and highhonor. The meeting of so many illustrious and learned men under suchcircumstances, evidences the kindly spirit and feeling that exist throughoutthe world. To me this is the proudest work of our Exposition. What-ever may be the differences in the religions you represent, there is a sense inwhich we are all alike. There is a common plane on which we are allbrothers. We owe our being to conditions that are exactly the same. Ourjourney through this world is by the same route. We have in common thesame senses, hopes, ambitions, joys and sorrows ; and these to my mindargue strongly and almost conclusively a common destiny.
