On one ofthe steps of the throne is seated Wealth throwing fruits andflowers out of a horn of plenty. To the right and left are groupedinventors of machinery, and members of an examining jury. The 146 MACHINERY. corners of the pediment are filled by two groups of lions, showingbrute force subdued by human genius, which is represented by twochildren. Most of the sculpture work on this building was doneby M. A. Waagen. The exhibits of foreign countries in Machinery Hall are groupedin the east end of the building, and those of the United States inthe west end and in the annex.
