ed is the Globe Clocks an interesting piece of astronomical and chronological mechanism. The globe and casing of the works are of sterling silver; the lower part, containing the. movement, represents a temple of classic form, suggested by theRoman Pantheon; thetwelve pillars encirclingthe temple are symboHcalof the months. Belowthem are marked theRoman numerals, uponwhich a hand indicatesthe time of day. On theroof of the temple, overthe pillars, are the signsof the zodiac and namesof the months. Hereanother hand revolvesindicatinof the calendarmonth. The globe measures14 inches in diameter,and the clock, complete,from the Mexican onyxbase to the crown of thesilver owl—the symbolof Wisdom on top—stands about 30 incheshigh. The Magnolia Vaserepresents the pottery ofthe early Americans in form, and the various sections of this country in its decorations. Its height IS 31 inches, and the materials used are silver, gold and opal matrix. Nearly a thousand dollars worth of gold was used
