Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The White Hart, Whitchurch At the 5-way junction in the centre of the town. The original inn on this site was built in 1461, and was at a key junction between the London-Exeter and Oxford-Southampton turnpikes. Latterly it was frequented by Lord Denning, Master of the Rolls, who was born opposite the inn. There is more information here http://www.arkells.com/pubs_more2.php?id=671 It is currently the yellow hart as it is covered in this brightly-coloured netting around the scaffolding. Compared to the 1995 Frith photo http://www.francisfrith.com/search/england/hampshire/whitchurch/photos/whitchurch_W490002.htm the white hart atop the doorway has been added since that time.
