aulicpressure, the hydraulic plant? of this companybeing one of the largest in the country, andthe works, when running full, require the ser-vices of four large pumping engines of an ag-gregate capacity of 1,200 horse-power. Theirimmense plant, of which a number of viewsare shown, is situated at the foot of Fifty-third street, on New York Bay, and is nearlya quarter of a mile in length. The factory islighted entirely by electricity, generated bytheir, own plant, and power is transmitted tothe various departments by means of electricmotors. The cold-drawing room, of which a view isshown, is 300 feet long by 100 feet wide, andthe drawing, as will be seen, is by hydraulicpressure. The shipping and stock room, ofwhich only a partial view is shown, is 150 feetlong by 100 wide. Both of these departmentsare finely lighted and laid out for comfort andconvenience of work. They are also manufacturers of seamlessforksides, special round and D tubing andlower rear forks, internally and externally

Davidson, president of the UnionDrawn Steel Company, of Beaver Falls, Pa.,the largest suppliers of steel to the bicycletrade, in America, died January 2d, at Phoe-nix, Ariz., of consumption. His remainsweie brought to Beaver Falls for interment.Mr. Davidson was still a young man—justturned 35—and a prominent figure in WesternPennsylvania business circles. NO MORE STRIPERS. * Convict labor is to be abandoned by theDerby Cycle Co., of Chicago. Two years agothe firm contracted for 75 prisoners at theJackson, Mich., penitentiary.
