Description

Calypte anna: Deep into the shade this soon-to-be-a-Mama Hummingbird sits atop her nest knowing that she is next to invisible to most passers-by. She was spotted by one of the participants on a Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival Field Trip that I Ied this weekend. Feeling a bit uncomfortable for having invaded her privacy, I won't go this near her nest again. (We all stared at her but none of us caused her to leave her nest.) I had to super-lighten the image due to the deep shade she was in.
