Fig. 33 Manger Knot: Pass the end ofthe rope around a tie post in a clock-wise direction. Hold both ropes firm-ly with the left hand and with theright hand throw the short end overboth ropes as indicated by the arrowin Fig 67. Put the right hand throughthe loop thus formed and pull therope back, tightening it in such away as to form a second loop (Fig.69). The end of the rope is thrownover the main rope and broughtdown through the loop to finish theknot (Fig. 70). Fig. 71 representsthe knot improperly tied. Square Knot: Cross the ends ofthe rope. Move end b under theleft rope and again cross the endsas in Fig. 10. Move end a aroundand under b and then tighten as inFig. 11 This knot is especially goodfor strength.
