DescriptionThe Union Flag flys high over a medal parade for troops of 7 Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps at Bielefeld, Germany.jpg |
English: The Union Flag flys high over a medal parade for troops of 7 Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps at Bielefeld, Germany. Originally based in Sennelager, 7 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps was formerly known as 7 Transport Regiment, and before that 7 Tank Transporter Regiment The Royal Corps of Transport. Regimental history Twinned with the Scottish Transport Regiment, 7 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps has a very long and proud history; elements of the Regiment date back to the 1800s, in particular 9 Squadron (formed in 1870) and 16 and 17 Squadrons (formed in 1878), and have served in most major theatres. On formation of the Royal Logistic Corps in 1993 the Regiment moved to Bielefeld where it remains today - it comprises of 4 Squadrons; 617 Headquarters Squadron, 9 Fuel support Squadron, 16 Tank Transporter Squadron, and 17 Transport Squadron, along with a Light Aid Detachment. After the Second World War in 1948 the Regiment had under its command a Polish Mixed Service Organisation Squadron made up of Polish Soldiers. They were disbanded in 1987 yet the Regiment continues to proudly fly the Polish Eagle as its emblem and has a strong affiliation with a Polish Logistic Regiment. |
