Title |
The Town Crier, v.11, no.30, Jul. 22, 1916 |
||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
Page 3 article "A Business Administration" discusses the longshore strike. Cartoon entitled "A Business Administration". Panel at top depicts Seattle Mayor Hiram Gill, feet up on his desk, reading a newspaper and smoking a pipe. Bottom left shows a policeman, apparently having just shot a man, looking on as a speakeasy is smashed up: mirror behind the bar already broken, a hatchet apparently about to be used on the cash register. Bottom right shows a policeman dozing as a violent melee takes place on the waterfront, presumably a reference to the then-ongoing longshore strike. Cartoon signed "Vic". |
